When putting up a tent there are a number of things to consider when doing it. Such as the ground it is on, the distance from it and the cooking location, whether the ground will support the tent in the wind and so on. To start with I will talk about the ground, you should try a find a location that is flat remember that it will fell more slanted when lying on it. Make sure that the the ground wont flood, i have had an experience when I almost camped on a flood plain. I realized this and found a new location. this was lucky as that night it flooded and I would have been in a lot of trouble. You want to put your tent a good 10 or more meters from you fire if you're are having one. you want to imagen that a spark could be carried by the wind to you tent. one spark can make an entire tent useless.
